On January 14, 2016, President Barack Obama made his first visit to Baton Rouge to host a Town Hall at historic McKinley Senior High School- the oldest high school established for African Americans in the East Baton Rouge Parish. His visit also marked the first time a sitting President hosted a town hall at a secondary school in Louisiana.  Thousands of people camped out overnight, in the cold, to try and get their hands on a coveted seat for the event. Most people did not succeed, creating the heartbreaking and heartwarming scene outside the school. The hoards of people lined the residential streets, sat on their front stoops or neighbour's lawns just to feel close to the President and maybe, just maybe, get a glimpse of the motorcade rolling out.
